The 'Rose' business is under the ownership of Ben Johnson, who was brought up in Great Waltham. At the 'Rose' we take pride in being a genuinely independent local pub. We offer a warm, friendly welcome, traditional ales including the local 'Bishop Nick' beers, a real log fire (in the winter!) and a varied menu with traditional country products, fresh seafood and Italian specials...
Improvements continued last autumn with a major refit of the kitchen, which has enhanced the menu variety and speed of service for diners.
We've also re-tiled the roof, as well as replacing and re-carpeting the restaurant floor. At the moment, we are enlarging the service area at the rear of the pub and when the weather improves, we hope to renovate the car park with a more permanent surface. This will add to all the changes we've made - outside decking overlooking the stream, new ladies and gents facilities, seating and upholstery, carpets, radiators, window blinds, car park lighting, air conditioning in the restaurant, a re-furbished dining area in the Snug, plus conversion of the former office extension into a further, more private, dining area (with a dart board!). With new pub signs as well, we're easy to find in Chelmsford Road, Great Waltham.
