The 'Rose' business is under the ownership of Ben Johnson, who was brought up in Great Waltham. At the 'Rose' we take pride in being a genuinely independent local pub. We offer a warm, friendly welcome, traditional ales including the local 'Bishop Nick' beers, a real log fire (in the winter!) and a varied menu with traditional country products, fresh seafood and Italian specials...
Improvements continued last autumn with a major refit of the kitchen, which has enhanced the menu variety and speed of service for diners.
We've also re-tiled the roof, as well as replacing and re-carpeting the restaurant floor. We are gradually enlarging the service area at the rear of the pub and when the weather improves, we hope to renovate the car park with a more permanent surface. This will add to all the changes we've made - outside decking overlooking the stream, new ladies and gents facilities, seating and upholstery, carpets, radiators, window blinds, car park lighting, air conditioning in the restaurant, a re-furbished dining area in the Snug, plus conversion of the former office extension into a further, more private, dining area (with a dart board!). With new pub signs and outside lighting as well, we're easy to find in Chelmsford Road, Great Waltham.
